Auditing Local Councils

Auditing Local Councils

The Central Govt who votes millions of € to be allotted to Local Councils according to the locality size and special needs, must be satisfied that the money is well spent and apart from value for money, must ensure that no section of the locality population is victimised (on political grounds). It is suggested that the Auditor General sets a special unit to audit the financial allocations of projects. The Govt must also set up a mechanism where the complaints by residents are scrutinised fairly.

Points

It is a fact that certain non major projects or solving of local problems are only embarked upon if the complainant is a supporter of the party in government.
