In France this is mandatory. Food waste is considered a crime. Set up a system whereby the government collects the food waste from restaurants and supermarkets so he can distribute them to those in need.
Lets ensure that we look into every possibility of reducing food waste in all sectors not just supermarkets or other food markets. Other European countries are positively and effectively reducing food waste and we should embark on this initiative too. It will help our environment no end.
